New Microsoft Excel File Format Now Available on Tax-Exempt Organizations: "You can now download data files on tax-exempt organizations from the IRS Exempt Organization Master File in an easier-to-read format using Microsoft Excel. The data files are grouped by state and include an organization’s name, address, employer identification number (EIN), date of exemption ruling, and other information, such as the applicable subsection code – 501(c)(3), (c)(4), (c)(5), etc. – foundation code and organization code."

Zoo Animal Ringtones:Friends of the National Zoo Rings in the New Year with Zoo Animal

Cell phones will soon ring with really wild sounds thanks to a program launched today by Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ), the nonprofit partner of the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. Animal fans can carry the wild with them and support the National Zoo's conservation and education programs by downloading click ringtones of 25 animal vocalizations , including those made by giant panda Tai Shan and Sumatran tiger Soyono.

Solar Power Contract Opportunity

State of California needs a contractor to finance, design, engineer, construct, install, operate and maintain 3rd Party owned solar photovoltaic power generating system at State host facilities under a site license agreement. The solar power generated will be delivered and sold to the State host facility under a power purchase agreement for a term of 20 years. Systems anticipated to be installed include roof mounted arrays, parking canopy systems, and one large ground mounted array. Total estimated solar power generating capacity for this RFP is 9.6 MW ac. This encompasses 15 State host facilities.

FDA Issues Update on Animal Cloning

After years of detailed study and analysis, the Food and Drug Administration has concluded that meat and milk from clones of cattle, swine, and goats, and the offspring of clones from any species traditionally consumed as food, are as safe to eat as food from conventionally bred animals. There was insufficient information for the agency to reach a conclusion on the safety of food from clones of other animal species, such as sheep.

SAMHSA Accepting Applications for Grants for Substance Abuse Treatment Programs

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is soliciting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2008 Targeted Capacity Expansion Program for Substance Abuse Treatment and HIV/AIDS Services.   This program aims at enhancing and expanding substance abuse treatment and/or outreach and pretreatment services that are provided in conjunction with HIV/AIDS services performed in the African American, Latino/Hispanic, and other racial and ethnic communities highly affected by the epidemics of substance abuse and HIV/AIDS.
