Going to the World Cup? What U.S. Travelers Need to Know: "Measles and mumps remain common diseases in many parts of the world, including some developed countries. For US travelers, the risk for exposure to measles and mumps can be high, and both diseases can be prevented by the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine. Six of the eight teams representing the Americas in the upcoming World Cup are scheduled to play in games held in cities of the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany, which is currently experiencing an outbreak of measles."
