Wild Horse and Burro Program Grant Program

The grant includes maintaining certain herd characteristics, numbers, genetic stock, etc. Management tasks primarily focus on monitoring both the land and the herds, removing excess animals, preparing animals for adoption, adopting animals to the general public, compliance and titling. By law, the BLM must limit its activities to those necessary to get the job done. To provide care for wild horses removed from public lands; teaching animal husbandry; and provide a place to maintain and rest wild horses in route to adoptions or while they are awaiting adoption.
