SEC and OFHEO Announce Resolution of Investigation of Fannie Mae - Fannie Mae Agrees to Pay $400 Million Penalty: "The Securities and Exchange Commission and the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) announced today that the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) has agreed to settle charges relating to the misstatement of its financial statements from at least 1998 through 2004. Fannie Mae has agreed to the entry of a permanent injunction and to pay a $400 million penalty."
